THE CONCEPT:

While looking at himself in the mirror, our protagonist reflects on who he truly is. He has an image of himself; but, the man in the glass has a different view. Could these two conflicting images of the same person be " just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground? “

And so our story begins!

The protagonist in GRAVE NEW WORLD embarks on a journey of self-discovery. He will attempt to understand his "shadow" (Carl Jung concept). Only then can he become aware of who he truly is and hence begin the process of change and becoming ONE (WHOLE). This will not be easy! Thankfully there is a woman around to show him the way. His “anima”! (Carl Jung concept)

The dark place he is in at the start of the story is exacerbated by his belief of an indifferent, uncaring world. A world resembling Huxley's dystopia "Brave New World" where to be human is considered to be "savage". As he discovers the need for balance, we see him endure a metamorphosis and in the process he begins to understand who he is. In accepting his dark side our protagonist starts to accept others and is capable of love!
